🚔 Police & death
Cops are real players who respawn right in the city and often win by numbers.
Becoming a cop
Enlist at the Looty Bay police station when a slot is free. You get department gear and a patrol car; pay and badges depend on objectives and progress. Calling for backup temporarily improves gear and pay. Cops earn from a share of confiscations, arrests and bribes, don’t risk their own gear, but earn less than criminals; part of the salary is paid in confiscated items.
Patches of 4–5 Nov
- Badges can be bought; the selection depends on your home district. Badges in loot and salary were cut sharply, but returned to salary for payouts above 30,000.
- No more than 4 cops in the city at once.
- For the first 30 minutes of a new server patrol officers carry a single pistol, then better gear unlocks.
- Respawn time is longer and grows with each consecutive death.
- Pay was raised; at most 25% of it comes as items (keys, badges, gear), the rest in cash.
- Legendary badges were removed from barter; you can still buy them via the laptop.
What you lose
| Situation | Bag and loot | Equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Criminal surrenders | Bag contents confiscated | Equipped gear kept |
| Cop accepts a bribe | Bag kept | No confiscation |
| Criminal dies in the city | Inventory lost | No protection |
| Civilian dies in the city | Bag kept | Gear kept |
| Death in the desert | All loot lost | City exception does not apply |
| Cop dies | Issued gear lost | Personal items kept |
A bribe needs money in your bank account, and the officer must accept it.
No free pistol after death: Kefir thinks the early struggle matters. Instead the basic pistol got cheaper and more starter weapon spawns appeared in the city. Cops are almost always the majority, but their rewards are noticeably smaller.
